The gas fireplace nestled into a rear corner of this expansive space can also be enjoyed by people working in the kitchen. A tray ceiling and luxurious bathroom give a touch of class to the owners’ suite.

Ridgefield a richly windowed cottage
   A large, open gathering space is at the heart of the Ridgefield, a Craftsman cottage with a fully contemporary interior.
   Craftsman styling comes through most notably in the shingle-fronted gable ends, multipaned window uppers, and glass-framed entry. You’ll also see it in the twin posts that support the high-ceilinged porch roof, and the louvered attic vents below the peaks of all three gables.
   Soft natural light filters into the vaulted foyer through side lights and a transom window. Double doors on the right open into a vaulted den where glass fills most of the front wall. This room is ideally located for a home office. An opening on the foyer’s left leads to secondary bedrooms and the main bathroom. A vaulted ceiling and wide window give the front bedroom an expansive feel.
   The great room, too, is window rich and vaulted. Flames in the gas fireplace, nestled into a rear corner of this expansive space, can also be enjoyed by people working in the kitchen. A conversation bar rims the wrap-around counter on the great room side, while a curved, raised eating bar fronts the dining room. Its atrium door leads out onto a partially covered patio.
   In addition to an array of built-in appliances, the Ridgefield’s kitchen boasts a roomy walk-in pantry. A pocket door links the kitchen to a full-function utility room. Because it offers direct access to the garage, this space could also double as a mud room.
   A tray ceiling and luxurious bathroom give a touch of class to the owners’ suite. Bathroom amenities include a deep soaking tub, double vanity, and large walk-in closet. A pocket door provides privacy for the toilet and steam containment for the shower.
