The trend for walkout basements has been equally spread between the desire to have an unfinished walkout level or one that provides a complete floor plan layout.

Homes with walk-out basements come in a wide variety of sizes and styles and can be found in small cabin plans to luxury estate homes. Small House Plan – Briarton 30-339

This popular small country house plan offers homeowners a casual style great room and a three bedroom floor plan. The bedrooms are grouped on the left side of the home while the great room fills the center of the home. Vaulted ceilings run through the entry to the great room and dining room which fill the back of the floor plan. The kitchen is nicely separated from the living room but the eating bar and breakfast nook give space for family or friends to keep the cooks company. A pass-through utility room connects the 2 car side entry garage. The Briarton comes with a variety of foundation options, one of which is a walk-out basement designed for a downhill sloping lot. The walk-out basement is unfinished but the wide display of windows and the sliding glass door access to a covered patio ensures that these rooms will be filled with natural light. The unfinished walk-out basement allow homeowners to tailor this level to future needs whether that is additional bedrooms or gathering space, there is flexibility to grow in the Briarton.

Prairie House Plan – Hood River 30-947

At 2500 square feet the Hood River is a great family house plan. The main level features tall ceilings through the foyer and den that transition to vaulted ceilings in the great room. The rear wall of the great room has a large window display capturing views out the back of the home. A 3-sided fireplace can be enjoyed throughout the great room and provides some visual separation between the dining room and great room. The main floor master suite is a popular feature. A finished walkout basement offers an additional family room in the basement level along with two additional bedrooms.

Modern House Plan – Celilo 31-269

The Celilo offers a floor plan that best fits on a side sloping lot. From the street the home appears to be a standard single level home with shed roofs. The 3 car garage offers the flexibility to use one bay for storage. Tall ceilings can be found throughout the main floor. The front of the home is filled with the great room which is framed by windows along two walls. The dining room can be opened to the outdoors along two walls. One set of double sliding glass doors opens to the vaulted covered deck along the left side of the home while a set along the right opens to the covered BBQ patio. The back of the first floor is rounded out with a den that offers the flexibility to be a home office, guest room or whatever else suites. Beyond the den is the owners’ suite which boasts a private covered patio along with an attached bathroom that offers a spa tub, dual vanities, and a walk-in closet. The walk-out basement comes with a floor plan layout that adds two bedrooms, a family room, plus large storage room. Outdoor spaces a plentiful and enhanced by the sloped lot design.

Cabin Plan – Arden 30-329

Cabin Plan Arden 30-329

A quintessential cabin design the Arden’s exterior is graced with cottage charm. Batt and board siding and an L-shaped deck create a welcoming first impression. Inside the floor plan offers informal and open living. The great room with vaulted ceiling fills the front of the home. Kitchen and nook are open to the living area and can enjoy the warmth of the wood stove while conversations flow between the living, kitchen, and nook. Towards the back of the first floor are two bedrooms. The larger room makes an ideal master bedroom with its direct access to the deck, private bathroom, and walk-in closet. On the second floor is a loft which offers flexibility to be furnished as another bedroom or second living area. On one side the loft is open to the great room below. Those looking for a great vacation home plan have their choice of foundation. Depending on where the Arden will be constructed you could build on a crawl space, slab on grade, or walk-out basement. For those looking to maximize their sloped lot the walk-out basement offered with the Arden is designed for an uphill sloping lot. With the great room filling the front of the home the walk-out basement is set up to capture any views just as well as the main level. Double doors offer direct access to the unfinished daylight basement which can be completed during the initial construction or at a later date so the home can be tailored and grow overtime.
