Cozy Country House Plan Kokanee 31-202

click rendering for more plan details

The Kokanee is a two-story house plan wrapped in a charming country exterior. Slender columns with broad stone bases mark the boundary of the front covered porch.

Inside the foyer is open with a tall 2-story ceiling and is open to the great room. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are all open so that people and conversations can flow freely in the space. A fireplace can be enjoyed from the living room on cozy fall days. When the weather is nice, the sliding glass door in the dining room opens and extends the great room to the back covered patio. An eating bar extends out and provides some visual separation to the kitchen while adding additional seating during holiday gatherings.

Off the dining room a short hallway leads past a half bath and a pass-through utility room which provides direct access to the attached two car garage. At the end of the hall is the main floor owners’ suite which features a private bath with twin sinks and a walk-in closet.

Those who enjoy entertaining will appreciate the second-floor guest room. The guest accommodation is set up for longer visits with the larger closet and direct access to the shared compartmentalized bathroom. The Kokanee is a great plan for growing families or households where more than one person works remotely. The second floor has an additional two bedrooms on the upper level bringing the total bedroom count to four. These extra rooms make great home offices, exercise studios, or hobby rooms for households without children or adult children who have left the nest.

Extending out over the garage is a bonus room. The 8-foot ceiling allows this space to be finished as a family room or recreation room providing space for visitors to spread out during larger get-togethers. For families with small children the bonus room is an ideal space for a playroom.

The Coeur d’Alene is an exceptionally large, richly windowed lodge-style home design. A delight to behold, its expansive interior offers a multitude of gathering and private spaces.

Natural wood posts and two-high stack of gables accented by king posts and struts create an impressively lofty entry. Custom windows accent the two front gables that flank the central foyer, all nicely set off against a backdrop of clean lined metal roofing.

Inside, a large dining room is to the left of the vaulted foyer, and a spacious library with gas fireplace is on the right. If a library is not needed this space would make a luxurious home office. Ahead is a bright and spacious vaulted living room. Wide windows flank the much larger mantled stone-veneer fireplace centered at the rear. Double doors on both sides of the room open onto the large, curved patio that spans that back of the home.

Squared, natural wood columns mark the passageway that leads past the butler’s pantry to the generously sized kitchen. Two work islands add to the abundant counter space. One has a wide cook top, while the one rimmed by a flush eating bar has a prep sink.

A wide hearth fronts the roomy wood-fired baking oven on one side, and another wall of ovens is on the left. A curved wall of windows wraps around the side nook, which also has a built-in buffet and hutch, and the kitchen opens into a media room with another fireplace in a hearth room alcove. A wine storage cellar and hobby room are further to the left.

Owners’ suite luxuries include a fireplace, and both his-and-her walk-in closets and bathrooms, the later with an elegant claw-foot tub. An exercise room and an exterior hot tub and shower are nearby.

Two vaulted bedrooms with private baths are upstairs in the Coeur d’Alene, along with plenty of storage and a bridge overlooking the great room.

click rendering for more plan details!

Gracefully tapered columns seated on rustic stone veneer bases give a Craftsman look to the Mallory, as do the multi-paned windows and traditional front porch. This three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath home has a fairly narrow footprint and is equally suitable for construction as a vacation retreat, or a year-round residence.

Porch railings add nostalgic charm while providing a little privacy for summertime relaxation on a porch swing, wicker chairs, or whatever suits. Inside, a coat closet fits neatly into the alcove behind the front door, and a stairway runs up the right wall.

On the left, the foyer opens into a large gathering space that spans the entire breadth of the house, front to back. The living room section has a wide street-facing window, with a view across the covered porch. At center is the dining room, expanded by a wide window bay that could house a window seat.

A long eating bar rims the boundary of kitchen and living room. Cabinetry fills the space above the wide, waist-to-hat-level open area that allows an easy interchange of food and conversation between the spacious, C-shaped kitchen and dining area. A rear door opens onto a covered patio that could be screened in.

The utility room, broom closet, powder room and direct garage access are all conveniently close.

Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a bonus room and several storage areas are on the Mallory's upper level. The owners' suite boasts a roomy walk-in closet, dual vanity, and a separately enclosed tub/shower and toilet, plus a towel hutch and a tall stack of enclosed shelves. Secondary bedrooms share a bathroom, and the bonus room comes complete with a covered deck and exterior stairs.

click rendering for more plan details

Corner lot house plans have the benefit of a street view which is not filled in by a garage door. Visitors are greeted by a welcoming covered porch and a rich display of windows promising a naturally bright interior. A stones wainscot works in harmony with the lap siding and gable ends giving the Idyllwild a distinctively country look.

Inside the entry is cozy with a coat closet just a few steps in. Immediately to the left, double doors open to the study which would make an ideal home office for those permanently working from home. At the end of the entry, the floor plan opens to the great room where living, dining, and kitchen are seamless. A vaulted ceiling flows through the great room and dining room. On the left wall of the great room, a double sliding glass door opens the space up to the covered patio and the outdoors. Those living in areas where bugs are a concern will appreciate the screened porch off the dining room. The informal nature of a great room allows those working in the kitchen preparing snacks or the holiday meal will never feel isolated. Conversations flow as freely as people in the open space.

A hallway off the kitchen leads to one of four bedrooms in the main house. This bedroom has direct access to the shared full bathroom on the first floor and would make an ideal guest suite. At the end of the hall is the owners’ suite. The private en-suite boasts twin sinks and a large walk-in closet with direct access to the laundry room.

The laundry room connects the home to the two-car side entry garage. The oversize garage has room for extra storage. At the opposite end, a man door opens to an apartment. Great for adult children or aging parents, this apartment has its own living room with kitchenette, full bathroom with stacking washer and dryer, and a bedroom. While connected to the main home, those staying in the attached apartment can have privacy.

Flexibility can be found on the upper level of this two-story home design. At the top of the stairs are two additional bedrooms which share a full bathroom. Double doors open at the end of the hall leading to the bathroom and opens to a large bonus room that extends over the garage. This space can be finished as a family room, media room, game/hobby space, or whatever else suites.
