Compton great for large families
High, vaulted ceilings in the entry, family room and living room give an open, airy feeling to the Compton, a two-story home designed to provide plenty of living space for a large family.
In addition to the sumptuous master suite, located on the lower level, it has five other rooms which could be used as bedrooms. Four are upstairs and one is next to the master suite.
The location of the lower bedroom makes it ideal for use as a nursery when children are small. If desired, a door could be added to provide direct access to the master suite. When all of the children have moved upstairs, it can be converted to a home office, study, guest room or hobby room.
A work island adds counter space to the large and bright country kitchen, allowing numerous cooks to work together without bumping elbows. Glass doors in the eating nook open onto a wide deck, so dining and other activities can easily move outside when the weather permits. A fireplace, tucked into a corner between the family room and the kitchen, warms both areas.
The dining room has a buffet with drawers and cabinets below and a built-in food warmer on top. Storage space is plentiful. Downstairs, there's a walk-in closet in the foyer, another closet in the hallway, and a walk-through storage space adjacent to the utility room. Two more storage areas are upstairs.
The second-floor landing of the Compton forms a bridge that overlooks the entryway at the front and the family room at the rear. At the right end of the bridge is a small library, also open to the rooms below. A spacious bathroom with double vanities and an extra deep soaking tub serves this level.
